I'm a pretty big Chilis fan; Anthony Kiedis is one of my favourite lyricists of all time too. I love this book too much not to share it with everyone.

Synopsis

In 1983 four self-described 'knuckleheads' burst out of the neo-pub rock scene with their own brand of cosmic hard-core mayhem funk. Over twenty years later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, against all the odds, have become one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Though the band has gone through many incarnations, the group's lyricist and dynamic lead singer, has been there for the whole rollercoaster ride.

'Scar Tissue'is Kiedis' searingly honest memoir - a story of dedication and debauchery, of intrigue and integrity, of recklessness and redemption. It is a story that could only come out of Hollywood.

What an unbelievably honest memoir.
I found myself smiling at the highs of overcoming addiction & then being so sad when he would fall into the depths of addiction.
I thought it was also amusing to be an avid vegetarian while at the same time abusing chemicals that could've/should've at some point killed him.
An amazing feet that he is still alive after some of the accidents & so much drug abuse.
I have to admit that I think I also have a new appreciation for the man that is Anthony Kiedis.
It's brutal, it's honest...it's sex, drugs & rock'n'roll.

Definitely worth reading to simply be in awe of how he has managed to stay alive & continue to bring the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to new levels of greatness.

Seek, read & enjoy.

Will PM next person on list & post next week.

I really enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down. I now have a much better appreciation for the RHCP music and of Anthony Kiedis himself. I never knew they went through so many band member changes. At time I felt like yelling at Anthony to stop the drug abuse cycle. I really loved how at the end he says he doesn't cop drugs now because his beloved dog has never seen him high. :-)

Will mail to -Bodhi- today.

Mmmmm Anthony Kiedis, so much talent, so yummy to look at. Of course I also love the Chilli Peppers and have done so ever since I bought Mothers Milk on vynal (you know you're old when you admit to buying vynal).

I have a couple of books on the go at the moment but as usual I guess I will just add another to the rotation. Am i last on this bookring id-rather-be-at???

BeetleChickee was also kind enough to stash lots of extra books in with this one - thank you very much!

Wow. What a crazy life. It was interesting reading this with Dave Navvaro's "Year in the Life of..." they were so similar in their patterns of extreme drug abuse. What I love about Anthony Keidis is that his compulsive self-destruction lives along side such a beautiful spirituality and awareness that there is a whole lot more to this life than what we can just see with our eyes. It is a complete miracle that this man is still alive, I guess he has lots of angels flying by his side. Loved it 10/10.

Have posted this off to Binkatron16, the next on the ring.

I've been an on again off again fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers so I found this book to be a very interesting look into the life of Anthony Kiedis. His life so far really has been all about Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll :) It's amazing he is still alive.

Thanks id-rather-be-at for sharing this book, I posted it back to you today.
