Sometimes silly, sometimes useful, always fun.

This is what amazon.co.uk has to say about the book:
From appreciating wine to understanding modern art, placing a bet to playing poker, wearing a hat to finding the mains, HOW TO WALK IN HIGH HEELS helps you navigate life's challenges with style. Camilla Morton has been ably assisted by a host of experts including Manolo Blahnik, who tells you How to Pick a Shoe, Gisele, who explains How to Look Good in a Photo and Anya Hindmarch, who reveals How to Pack a Suitcase. Funny and informative, filled with great quotes and fascinating facts this will transform your approach to everything from getting dressed to hanging wallpaper. Turn your exasperated aaaaarrrrghs into confident ahhhhs!

The book is on its way to id-rather-be-at!

Btw, I had a cool card that was really appropriate as a companion to the book, but the lady at the post office had X-ray vision and noticed I had put the card into the book. Now, if I send just a book, it's classified as "printed matter" and international shipping is rather cheap. But anything hand-written makes it a regular parcel and horribly expensive to send overseas. So... Sorry, no card this time! :( I'll try to hide the card better next time! ;)

My brother's girlfriend had a quick read of bits and pieces of this today, and had a bit of a chuckle at the meeting the in-laws part - she recently put uni off, and she's on record saying that my mum was harder to tell than her own, my mum can be a bit intimidating, lol.

Just arrived! I'm busy with Book Lust at the moment, but will then turn to this. Already, Mr Potok has had a quick glance and chuckle at "the right underwear".

I agree with this: "Sometimes silly, sometimes useful". It was a hard book to have as a bookring, because I felt I had to keep plowing through it, even when I got a bit sick of it. I think it'd be a fun book to have around to browse through more casually.

The first chapter was a bit off-putting, because I have really embraced Birkenstocks and other healthy shoes, and given up entirely on hair-dryers and makeup! I felt more and more dowdy the more I read (although most of the time I like my current look, really). Still, once I got on to other chapters I was more able to laugh about it. I'm interested to learn that Manolo supposedly makes high heels that are *comfortable*! I had never really understood what all the fuss over him was about.

Two sections I felt worth going back to: wines and housekeeping. Thanks for letting me be a part of this bookring, although I feel a little too old and frumpy for this book :D

I've got Hengameh's address (thanks, vexter, for including links to the profile pages right here - how convenient), but might wait to post from England at the weekend (we're off to visit family there) because I think that will be cheaper than from Finland.

UPDATE: Mailed on 28 July from Wortham, Diss, Norfolk. Session 1-1364940, parcel reg. 19668.
