Journal Entry 1 by Annadlx from Wiesbaden, Hessen Germany on Saturday, March 10, 2007
In this latest installment in Phillips's romance series starring the Chicago Stars football players (This Heart of Mine; Nobody's Baby but Mine), the bestselling novelist delivers a love story wrought with delicious sexual tension and charged banter. When debonair starting quarterback Dean Robillard, on a soul-searching road trip after a serious shoulder injury, happens across Blue Bailey, walking alongside the road wearing a beaver costume, he stops to help her. Blue is far from a Barbie-esque football groupie, but broke and stranded, she needs both a ride and a job, and the football all-star (driving a sexy Aston Martin) poses an interesting opportunity. As the two travel from Colorado to Dean's new farmhouse in east Tennessee, Blue resists his advances, and both athlete and vagabond struggle with deeply rooted trust and familial issues that are soon exacerbated by the unexpected presence of Dean's mother at the farm. While the verbal sparring in this textbook case of opposites attracting feels stagy at first, the rough edges come together in an alluring way. Alrighty, this book will travel around Europe for a while. Please journal the book on arrival, when finished reading and when mailing it to the next stop. I'm a friend of both kinds of rating. Stars and verbal journals are welcome and wished. Please don't keep the book longer than a month or two at the most. There's nothing more disappointing than a stalled ring. The mailing order might change due to mailing preferences. 1. penelopewanders 2. joasik (wanted to be skipped) 3. trinibell 4. Lluthiel (last in order) last. Back to me

full points for this one. It pulled me in right from the beginning and it didn't lessen. I liked the characters. They are very charismatic, likable and funny to a point that they had me laughing out loud while working out on a crosstrainer in my fitnessclub. Everybody must have thought me crazy. It has really hilarious passages in it as well as deeply dramatic ones. I liked this book really much. Lets see if I find some more for this great piece of entertainment.

Journal Entry 5 by penelopewanders from Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Monday, July 09, 2007
So yesterday I had a double-feature: first I read Match Me if you Can which I had on my TBR, then I read this ring. What fun! (Today I'm reading something historical for a change of pace). I very much enjoyed this, and here we had yet another encounter by the side of the road - a pattern SEP uses a lot. But ok, once she got away from the beaver suit, the main characters were great and the whole story very entertaining. Thanks so much for this ring! Waiting for confirmation on Joasik's address (the one I have is pretty old, hoping it's the same) UPDATE Joasik asks to be skipped, now I'll PM trinibell...

I read it in 3 days :-) It reminds me of "Heaven, Texas" : the big star going on a solitary trip and finally ending in a small American town. Maybe I was waiting too much of Dean Robillard's story (like for "Heaven, Texas") but I feel as he is another character than in previous novels... Even though I enjoyed it as always with SEP's books. She always manages to hook me from the first pages even with a bizarre or impossible plot. But I think it's not the best novel of the series. I found that some scenes were weak, Blue's character and especially her past and her relationship with her mother could have been more detailed. There is something lacking that prevents me to give it full points. Nevertheless, I laughed and cried all through the book :-) All in all, I liked it and will buy the paperback to complete my collection ;-) Thanks Anna for allowing us to read it !

Journal Entry 15 by Booklover-IGB from Sankt Ingbert, Saarland Germany on Sunday, May 03, 2009

There is some strange thing with SEP. Either she comes up with characters I like from the first three pages on or I hate the characters that much that I refuse to read the book. This time I nearly fell in love with her main characters Blue Bailey and Dean Robillard. Maybe I should concentrate on her books about Football players... Every part of the story was interesting and well written so that it was a pleasure to read the book.
