A story for modern times, Cloudstreet tells the tale of the Lambs and the Pickleses, two families forced by separate disasters to flee the country for a broken down duplex on the wrong side of the tracks. Originally aghast at their new lives, the motley crew starts from scratch. Told around the main tragedy - Fish Lamb's brain damage that was the result of a near drowning - the story unravels 20 years of fighting, laughing, shouting and loving as the hard-working, faithful Lambs and the gambling Pickleses live their lives in the rough, working class area of Perth. Set in an old, huge, ramshackle - and haunted - house that gradually grows from horrible to home,
