When London editor Georgia Abbott comes to Sydney to work on Glow, a glossy woman's magazine, she has high hopes for a bright new start. Leaving behind a broken heart (her own) and a philandering ex-fiance, she's look forward to immersing herself in the Tim Tam-eating sisterhood of woman's mags. No to mention being whisked off into the dusty Australian sunset by a suntanned, Akubra-hatted fantasy man. At first, things seem promising, as Georgia is swept up in a whirl of A-list parties, dancing, dinners and debauchery. But while Australian water may go down the plughole the other way, Australian men are starting to look all too familiar. And then there's the chaotic bunch of woman Georgia works with on Glow, to whom every relationship disaster is a potential article, not least of all Georgia's, whose quest for love is fast becoming headline material. What to do when all the blokes you've found are either gay, married, unfaithful, unable or just plain unworthy?

The story was okay. Too many drugs for me, but it was a bit different than the usual chicklit. e.g. there were no married friends with children ;-) When I had only a few pages left until the end I thought I wouldn't like the ending, but there was a positive surprise that I liked. Well, something like that had to happen because it's chicklit but I didn't expect it anyway.

The story would get 6-7 stars from me. But overall I rated it better because it's set in Sydney and that infleunced my opinion positively (finally a location that I could imagine, I never had that in a novel before) and there are so many things/words/sayings that reminded me of my time there, that are typical Australian. I loved the explanation of Tim-Tams :-)

The books been with me for I think what must be about a year now. Haven't had the urge to read it just yet. Maybe later.
Thanks Jessi626 for giving it to me to get an idea about life in AUS.

I haven't had the urge to read this book so I thought about sharing it with others instead.

I'm releasing this book to a BC friend in the UK who chose the book as part of the Surpise Book Xcerpting Ring No 2 (organized by plum_crazy).
This release also counts as No. 1 release for the "Rettet die Bücher 2010"- Challenge ("Save the books 2010").
Karen, I hope you and your daughter will enjoy this book.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

was released to probably the most incompetent mail clerk of thw whole wide world. She was not trusting me that there is something like an international book rate system and that it takes 2,70EUR to mail a book up to 500g to the UK. She was even as incometent to just sell me the appropriate stamps!! After 15 minutes of discussions the package was as it should be and is hopefully on its save journey to the UK.

Please enjoy!

Recieved in post from 'Surprise Book Xcerpts (chicklit/romance) * 2*'
Apologies for not journalling this books arrival immediately, an oversight on my part.

Anyway, we have both read the book - an entertaining first page, from which we chose the book - but on the whole, a particularly frivolous story. I shan't be out looking for more by the same author. Thanks anyway for sending it, it was fun.
