I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Hannah Green, Holy Fool and seer for Bloody Mary, Lord Robert Dudley, and Princess Elizabeth. I can't resist a good historical novel, and this one kept me turning pages for a couple of days. I was afraid for a minute there it might dissolve into a period romance, but there was more to the story. It was still romantic, but not in a Harlequin-type way. Interesting story, fun read. If you like historical fiction, I'd recommend it.

ooh! I'd forgotten about this one, Jenny! What a lovely surprise :) I *really* enjoyed The Other Boleyn Girl, so I have high hopes for this one :)

Thanks!

Update June 25: I realized I had a picture of Jenny after the BookCrossing Convention in Charleston this April, so I thought I'd add it here. I think she's holding a book she was about to release in this shot. But I just love this pic -- it totally makes me smile )

I learned long ago that when I'm taking books with me on a trip, I should mark them as such, in case they get unintentionally released before I mean to set them free!

This one is coming with me on a business trip to NYC.

I should be asleep, but I couldn't put this book down. I stayed up wait too late in my hotel room, reading, and now I must go to bed! But I have to say that I loved this book -- definitely more than any of her others that I've read so far, and was totally engrossed. I loved the story, I loved things like the Verde/Green name, I loved Hannah's choices to be honorable, I loved Mary, Daniel, etc., etc.

I know nothing of the Jews during this time in history, and although the story still romaticizes their plight somewhat, it fascinatestorments me to think of how over and over, throughout history, they have been treated.

I found Hannah's father's business fascinating, and of course loved their love for books. The command of language intrigued me. I really, really liked this book. I was a little concerned about reading it -- my problem with historical fiction like this is that there's always a little confusion about what is actual historical fact, and what's the fiction part? But this book didn't disappoint, and I didn't find it nearly as confusing as I did The Other Boleyn Girl.

Thanks for sharing it, Jenny, and now it gets to go wandering around NYC with me tomorrow night when I go into the city for a business dinner! And now ... to bed! *yawn*

Change of plans: I'm handing this over to one of my favorite people in the world :)
