Born in 1900 on the desolate steppe of southern Siberia, Olga Yunter was just seventeen when she was swept up in the terrifying violence of the Russian revolution. After trying to save her town she was forced to flee to Vladivostok and then to China and finally to England. Olga would never see her family in Siberia again and her life would bear the weight of the horrors of the twentieth century: the years of revolution, war and exile overshadowing every thing she did.

Told in captivating detail by her granddaughter, Olga's Story is the heartrending account of an ordinary woman of extraordinary resilience caught up in the most devastating events of the last century.

This book was fascinating - I've read a lot about the Russian revolution but I don't think I've read anything before which tells of its effects outside of the large cities of European Russia. Olga also experienced the second World War and the Communists in China ... she led an eventful life.
