I've heard really good things about this book and am especially interested in reading it now that I've read Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America. I'm quite anxious to read about these issues in a Canadian context and am interested in how Hurtig approaches the issue of poverty. From the back cover: "In Pay the Rent of Feed the Kids, Mel Hurtig presents an abundance of new information about the extent of poverty in Canada. In this angry, hard-hitting book, he not only examines the causes of Canada's poverty crisis and the reasons why the poor have been so ignored, but he also presents a realistic program to substantially reduce poverty in Canada."
