This is the story of Sumere, Miu and K and their unusual love triangle. This is a really enthralling story with lots of twists and turns, I really enjoyed it.

Wonderful! I love Murakami, and it was very kind of the mighty purpleskybaby to bring this with me in mind.

Quite how Murakami accomplishes all he does is beyond me. He captures all the problems of contemporary society (or the human condition?) - alienation, identity, fragmentation of the self, uncertain ontology; he also has great emotional intelligence and conveys the bitter tenderness of connection, love, loss and continuity; he also writes in the most impressive prose, conveying startling concepts without a hint of pretention and capturing a compelling narrative and engaging characters. How can he do this? If this sounds like hyperbole - well it is hyperbole, but justified. The customarily restrained Guardian hails Murakami as one of '...the world's greatest living novelists'. It's as if he's invented a whole new way of writing, and it speaks to many of us. Thanks for this m'dear - it's going to veganknitter next.
