5 out of 10

(blurb)With the blazing spirit of a true Montgomery, heiress Christiana Montgomery Mathison bravely defies the two men who abduct her. Forced into the primitive rain forests of the Washington Territory, she is swept into a thrilling adventure.

Amid schemes of greed & intrigue, she uses all her wiles to entice the mysterious Tynan... a fatally handsome man who desires her.. but must resist her love at all costs!

Don't think this is one of Deveraux's better books (or it would be in my permanent collection!) but it's ok for passing a couple of hours with if you're in the mood for this style...

I enjoyed the beginning until Chris comes upon that wagon wreck and starts off a whole nother story. Why this extra story of Lionel? It didn't help to enhance the story or the characters. As for the characters I found Chris believable but had an imediate dislike for Tynan whom Deveraux describes as a meager boy. Later on Tynans character grow a bit, but didn't pull me over.
But as it goes the romance was kinda nice, cause I haven't read a wild-west romance for some time. Thank you again for sharing this book with me!
