[Since I read, enjoyed, and released my first copy of this book, I've caught up on the rest of the MacPherson books, and now that I have the full background I thought I'd get another copy and read it again. Or maybe I just want to read the sections in which Geoffrey and Elizabeth bicker; can't get enough of Geoffrey's snarkiness!]

From my previous journal entry:

What can you say about a book that begins "If he stayed chained naked to this post much longer, there just wouldn't be any afterward to the foreplay"? After you've stopped chuckling, that is!

Turns out that "he" is one of the victims of the PMS Outlaws of the title - a pair of women who have taken to roaming the countryside, seducing men into letting themselves be handcuffed in hopes of kinky sex and then making away with their valuables. One of them has a history with lawyer A. P. Hill, who with her partner Bill MacPherson is on the brink of acquiring a house in which to set up a new office - but while Bill's off house-shopping (and getting introduced to a strangely economical ante-bellum-style mansion with mysteries of its own), Bill's sister Elizabeth is checking herself in to a mental hospital to cope with her depression [I won't say about what as that'd be a spoiler to incidents in previous books, but she has good reason]. And by the miracle of detective fiction, all of these plot threads tangle themselves up - more or less - with the aid of assorted colorful supporting characters and the MacPhersons' suave, cynical cousin Geoffrey. Funny and sometimes rather poignant, I enjoyed the book, though its mysteries aren't the typical complex whodunnit - in fact the mystery portion is almost optional. Entertaining, though!

Highland Laddie Gone

RELEASE NOTES:

I found a hardcover copy of this book, so I'm ready to release this paperback. Since it was a lovely autumn day today (if a bit warm for late October!) I took a walk in Mine Falls Park, from the Stellos Stadium entrance (see map of entrance points here), past the Gatehouse, along the Mill Pond Trail; I left this book, tucked into a BookCrossing plastic bag for protection from the weather, propped up against a tree near the pond, at a little after 4. [The bag's visible from the trail if you know where to look. (It's about 100 feet past the "G48" marker, to be a little more specific.) Lots of people in the park today, though, so it may not be there long...]

Sunshine, dark clouds, a little rain, then sunshine again, and a double rainbow - a great day to be out wandering around!

While taking a walk with my family, my younger daughter discovered this bookcrossing book. I had just finished the book I found last month and was delighted! I can't wait to start it and will keep you all posted.

I finally got around to reading this book on my trip to Key West. I thought the book was a bit hard to follow and, although the last half of the book did draw all story lines together, I didn't think it was all that great. This is the first book I've read by Sharyn McCrumb. On the inside cover it does list other mysteries involving main character, Elizabeth MacPherson - maybe if I had read some of these other titles, I would have found the book more interesting.

I found this book at the Fort at Key West and was intrigued by the Book Crossing note so picked it up.

It has now travelled back to my hometown of Chingford, England, UK but I'm going to leave it at London Liverpool Street Station for someone else to pick up as I have a huge backlog of books I am trying to get through and it doesn't seem fair to just sit on the book for ages.

I hope someone finds and enjoys it, I have made a note of the BCID number so I will be interested to see where it goes.
