Friends, Lovers, Chocolate (Sunday Philosophy Club 2) - Bookring
5 journalers for this copy...
Isabel Dalhousie thinks, often of friends, sometimes of lovers, and on occasion of chocolate.
As an Edinburgh philosopher she is certain of where she stands. She can review a book called In Praise of Sin with panache and conviction, but real life is ...... well, perhaps a bit more challanging - particularly when it comes to her feelings for Jamie, a younger man who should have married her niece Cat.
And more disturbance is in store. When Cat takes a break in Italy, isable agrees to run her delicatessen. One of the customers , she discovers, has recently had a heart transplant and is now being plagued by memories that cannot be rationally explained and which he feels do not belong to him.
Isabel is intrigued. So intrigued that she finds hersef plunging headlong into another risky investigation....

Woo hoo - arrived today!! Thank you smurphie for the lovely choccie, postcard & bookmark. What a shame you forgot to put in one each for the other readers *wink*. Seriously, a huge thanks, I might have to store the other envelopes in the fridge until they are ready to travel with the book as the Brisbane summer is not being kind to them at all and if they melt I will have to dispose of them thoughtfully :o) Hugs.
A nice light-hearted easy read. Perfect for a lazy afternoon or weekend read. A little bit of mystery - a fun read. Thanks smurphie for the bookring and the chocolate. I will send it to sugaryfun (along smurphie's little envelopes for the other readers). Hugs :o)

Just a quick note to say the book has arrived safely. Many thanks to Smurphie for the choccie! I have essays to write and it's good brain food. Also kudos for buying fair trade.
I had to delay starting on this (sorry!) because I had lots of assessment for uni, but I'm about halfway through now and shouldn't be long.
I finished it in the wee small hours this morning.
I was expecting it to be just a sort of fluffy romance, but it wasn't really like that. I enjoyed the random, philosophical digressions.
Thanks to Froggirlwendy for sending it on. I'll PM the next person for an address now.

Posted off to Twynnie yesterday. I'm really sorry about the delay.
This arrived yesterday, thanks for the yummy chocolate Smurphie!
I have a couple of other rings to read before this one (I had none for ages and then 5 turned up - typical!) but I will get to it soon. Thanks also to sugaryfun for passing it on to me...

Well I enjoyed the chocolate and the book! I'm really getting to like Isabel Dalhousie - Alexander McCall Smith has such a talent for creating likable characters.I also like the way his books are slower paced than most 'mysteries' but still totally unputdownable. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Smurphie, I will PM you shortly so this book can return home!
