A colleague passed this on. She said she guessed the ending half-way through, jumped to the end to check, and yes. So she had no interest in keeping it. Not sure yet whether I'll try and see whether the same happens to me, or whether I'll just release it.

Unlike my colleague, I was unable to foresee most of the twists and turns in this book. Took me a little while to get hooked but then, yes, I'd agree with the blurb on the back that it was a page-turner. Mr Potok wants to read it too, so for now I'll label it "Reserved".

I saw posters for this in Britain in late February (2007), so decided it might be popular enough for a European book-ring. I'm trying to collect names now and hope to send it out in late March.

Wow! I read it in record time...
It is not a very good book, in my opinion... though it would make a fantastic movie!
Too many twists and turns for a not very novel plot (I remember a film with River Phoenix and Sidney Poitier which was quite similar...)
Anyway, thanks for sharing, Potok-Fan, and it will be in its way to England as soon as Alice-F send ms her address...

Interestingly, I agree with Bookworm-lady on this one... I mean, decent story, but not terribly well written... which is one reason why I took so long over it (not motivated to go beyond a few pages at first), and the other being that... um, life's just like that here, I'm afraid: sorry! Will send to cherryprincess in the next day or two.

This book was ok but as everyone else seems to have mentioned..it would do better as a film. The chapters are mostly 3/4 pages long and it's hard to get your head into this book because of that. Every last page something else happens, so many twists and plots it's surreal. And yes this book was not well written, I had a hard time trying to think how they got from situation A to situation B.

Shall be sending this on as soon as I receive the address.
