The year is 1929 and Honora Beecher and her husband, Sexton, are just settling into a new marriage and a cottage on the coast of New Hampshire. While Honora fixes up the derelict house and searches for bits of sea glass on the beach, Sexton risks everything they own to buy the house they both love. Firstly, huge apologies for keeping this book so long on my shelf!!

I thought this was a really interesting and beautifully written book. I have read others by Anita Shreve, and I wasn't disappointed!

I didn't realise when I started reading this, that it is kind of 3rd in trilogy (Fortune's Rock), and am wondering if it will have spoilt it for the other books that I haven't read yet - oh well!
