Too many books and not enough time! Saw this on Antof9's wishlist and decided she would be my February Rabck for this worthwhile goal! Just a little payback for past deeds m'dear! ;) Enjoy!

You ... you ... you! I can't believe you sent me these two books! According to The Series Law, I may actually ... finally ... begin reading these, as I think (I'll check first of course!) I now have a complete set.

You're a marvelous doll, and you've spoiled me. Thank you thank you thank you!

MWAH!

This is a charming series, and I whipped through it in about a week and 1/2. Of course, I refused to stop after each one and write a journal entry ... I just opened the next one and kept reading!

This is a totally wonderful Christmas story, and if I had the book in my house around December, it would be a definite candidate for a holiday re-read. This one is loaded with flashbacks, which are nice, but a bit distracting.

This author makes even the flu (the Mitford Crud) entertaining.

"I never heard of anything that was both viral and bacterial. I thought we got only one misery at a time."

"I think it's the double deal that earned the Crud its name."

"Anyway, I've finally figured out how it feels to have this pernicious blight."

"Speak."

"It feels like you've just eaten a dish of Miss Rose's week-old, unrefrigerated banana pudding and are on your way to the emergency room in the back of a van that's been lived in through a long, hard winter by seven Russian wolfhounds, all of whom, poor dears, have mange ..."

He moaned. Right on the money.

"Plus, you have this horrendous headache -- pounding, mind you -- and eyes that feel like little sockets of ground glass, something akin to the lethal shards of a Coke bottle that's been run over by a tractor trailer hurtling at great speed along I-95 --"

"North or south?"

Off to the East coast where my mom is visiting my SIL!

This is the last in the series that my daughter, antof9, sent to me at my daughter-in-law's home while she was recovering from surgery.

SHEPHERDS ABIDING is a delightful Christmas story. As the inside flap says, it talks about "the best of all presents--the gift of one's heart". And the telling is engaging to read. I even enjoyed it in July!

I am taking it with me to the beauty shop today. Betty wants to read it!
