The Natascha Kampusch Story
11 journalers for this copy...
A girl in the cellar.
When Natascha made her bid for freedom on 23 August 2006 after eight years held captive in a seemingly ordinary Austrian suburbian house, her story horrified and astonished the entire world. how did she survive a childhood locked in a cellar? What sort of young woman had emerged? What kind of man was Wolfgang Priklopil, her abductor - and what demands had he made of her?

This book was really interesting is it goes right into the pasts of the parents, family members and other close associates. The mistakes the police made were amazing after Natascha was kidnapped. Reading the descriptions and staring at the photos of her prison was overwhelming. I really enjoyed reading this even though the subject matter is very sad.

Thanks Sarahbear. Received safely yesterday. I'll look forward to starting it over the weekend.
I'd probably not normally have read this book, but I'm glad I've done so. I didn't think there'd be so much to say that hadn't been paraded on the media, but the authors managed to give me a much fuller understanding of the context.
Thanks for sharing, sarahbear.

Arrived 5 minutes ago. Have one book, almost finished, ahead of this.
Just finished reading this book.
I was a little dissapointed with it to start off with when I realised that it was being written from an outside perspective based on what people had said/read/heard etc. & not actually written by Natascha Kampusch herself.
I am however glad I kept reading as it turned into quite a good book & also makes me respect Natascha's privacy, at not releasing all details, even more.
She is a human being that went through an unfortunate & unbelieveable experience & has come out the other side with an amazing tolerance & respect for the world around her. She deserves to have her privacy as we would all expect some aspects of our own lives to be kept from the public view.
Well worth reading.
Book will be posted off to michyj next week. (Have to wait for payday.lol)
Seek, read & enjoy.

Received in the mail today. For once a bookring is timed perfectly as I just finished a book last night! Looking forward to starting this one!
I hate to say it, but I am giving up on this book. I was disappointed that it is written from speculation, reports, interviews with doctors etc. It bothered me that the authors could write down what Natascha's emotional state was etc when they are just going by text book analysis. Thanks for sharing sarahbear, but I'm going to pass it on without finishing it. Waiting on crystaljade's mailing address.

Book arrived safely and I've started reading it. I'll write more when I'm finished. Looking at the pictures of Natascha's cellar room made me sad though. Such a tiny space for someone to live in for so long!
I got about halfway through this book and just lost interest. I find myself re-reading old favourites instead of this one, so it's time to pass it on unfinished. What I read was quite interesting though, just not the book for me right now.
Ok, I've emailed ScarletRubies for an address several times, with no response. So I'm going to try alice2623663 instead. Sorry about the delay, hopefully this book will be moving again very soon!

Arrived safely today, thanks so much. I've got a couple of books ahead of it (and I haven't finished Harry Potter) but I'll try my hardest to get it read within the a month.

I was slightly disppointed with this book. I think that I was hoping for something a little bit more concrete, perhaps actually from the perspective of Natascha and not from someone on the outside. Apart from that it was an ok read, it gave me more of an idea about what actually went on and not just what was said on the news.
I'll pm the next reader now.

Arrived safely today. I was living in Germany when she was kidnapped and remember the uproar vividly. Can't wait to read this, but I do have a couple of books ahead of this one. Will let you know if I can't finish within the month. Thanks for sending!
I went away for the weekend and got a chance to finish this. It was very interesting to read about the circumstances of Natascha's capture and ordeal. I would love to hear from Natascha herself about what happened to her if she is ever ready to talk about it. I also find it really amazing how we don't hear about her at all anymore.
Anyway, I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing! Will pm Mummafour now.

Arrived this morning and already Iam three quarters of my way through this interesting story
Natasha showed how strong a child she was and how strong a woman she became,I dont know how she survived this maybe one day she will feel ready to tell us her side.
I did find it incredible that people sent her hate mail just because she didnt go straight back to her family! Didnt they think she may need alot of time to adjust to her new found freedom, didnt they think she did try and alert people in her own child like way and did they even think what threats he may have said to her? People are just unbelieveable!

Received today. Thanks all. Will get stuck into it right away.
An interesting read. The authors did well with the material that they had - it will be fascinating to find out if there's any other insight into Natascha's harrowing experience in the future. Thanks for sharing, I'll send it onto Bellamack.
Received today, thank you. Have a few before it but should get to it soon.
