Journal Entry 1 by karendawn from Lafayette, Indiana USA on Saturday, January 20, 2007
When the Mayflower set sail in 1620, it carried on board the men and women who would shape America: Miles Standish; John Alden; Constance Hopkins. But some among the Pilgrims were not pure of heart; they were not escaping religious persecution. Indeed, they were not even human. They were vampires. The vampires assimilated quickly into the New World. Rising to levels of enormous power, wealth, and influence, they were the celebrated "blue bloods" of American society. The Blue Bloods vowed that their immortal status would remain a closely guarded secret. And they kept that secret for centuries. But now, in New York City, the secret is seeping out. Schuyler Van Alen is a sophomore at a prestigious private school. Suddenly, when she turns fifteen, there is a visible mosaic of blue veins on her arm. She starts to crave raw food -- and she is having flashbacks to ancient times. Then a girl from her school is found dead...drained of all her blood. Schuyler doesn’t know what to think. Could those vampire legends really be true? Steeped in vampire lore and set against the heady backdrop of the rich, young, and powerful in the heart of New York City, Blue Bloods will be devoured by Melissa de la Cruz’s legion of fans.

Journal Entry 2 by karendawn from Lafayette, Indiana USA on Sunday, June 24, 2007
This book grabbed me from the beginning (in some ways it reminded me of Twilight). I enjoyed the mythology that was created and how it was tied into history. The characters were compelling, and I want to find out more about them (thank goodness there will be more books after this one). I had to stay up late to finish this one as I couldn't make myself put it down.

It was me who won it! LOL Sorry I''m still slowly but surely working through journaling all the stuff I got in Columbus. So w00t! Another wishlist book for me! I know Michelle (explorer) was gonna steal it from me at one point, but I know her thinking was that at least if I wound up with it, I''d let her read it either before or after me. Then I hid it under the table for a bit so I wouldn''t call anymore attention to it, and w00t! Here it is in my hot little hands! LOL

As expected, I'm lending this to Michelle (explorer1118m) before I read it, as a "thank you" for not stealing it from me at the live swap in Columbus. ;) Mailed on 9/7/07 via USPS Bound Printed Matter with Delivery Confirmation # 9102 8052 1390 7457 4222 83. Mailed along with The Mysteries by Lisa Tuttle (RABCK/Trade) and some other books I'd brought back for her in my luggage from Columbus.
