Blurb on back cover says...
"Destination: Croatia. This anthology brings together nine British authors whose stories are set in Croatia and the surrounding areas, and nine authors from Croatia and Serbia, many appearing in translation for the first time.
Over the past five years a writers' movement called FAK - Festival of Alternative Literature (Knjizevnost) has staged large literary festivals to enormously enthusiastic audiences in Croatia and Serbia, rejecting nationalism and renewing the opportunities for exchange between these countries and the UK.
The authors collected here were brought together for the first time by FAK but they also share a dark sense of humour, a directness of expression and a willingness to look beyond imposed boundaries. Funny, bleak, honest and completely unpretentious, these eighteen stories take you straight to the heart of the country..."
An interesting collection of stories, but nothing special.

Journal Entry 6 by Plum-crazy from Brighouse, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Sunday, June 10, 2007
Well, I started this book earlier than I expected, now it's been read & it's ready to go RowanneM later in the week.
I'm not sure what to say about it...I can't in all honesty say I really liked it. "Hawaii" & "Storm" & "The Ballad of Mott the Hoople" amongst others were okay...
..."Junk food kills, doesn't it?",I found a bit distressing, possibly because you can imagine it happening...
Some I just didn't seem to understand......
...& "The Tourist" was downright weird!..one that is certainly "looking beyond imposed boundaries" but having said that I found it quite amusing in warped sort of way.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing this book Jinglefish, let's wait & see what everyone else makes of it.
Sent to RowanneM on June 13th.

Will be finished with this book in the next few days - hopefully in time for the end of the postal strike!! So I'm PMing the next person on the list!
Sadly this book appears to have gone missing somewhere between the UK and Portugal. It was posted in mid October but unfortunately hasn't arrived to date. I'll see if I can source a replacement, but to be honest, I haven't seen many copies about.
