From the back cover:
When Charles Callahan chances on a newspaper photograph of Sian Richards, a woman he loved when they were both only thirteen, he is hardly in a position to do anything about it. He has been faithfully married for years and his Rhode Island real estate business has been hit hard by the recession. But Charles cannot bear his curiosity, and decides to get in touch.
Three decades after they last saw each other, the two lovers meet. Powerfully drawn together once again, Charles and Sian are forced to come to terms with the nature of erotic love and betrayal, moral quandaries in an age of shifting values, and the elusive nature of time.

I felt this was one of Shreve's better books. The ending was a little predictable, but I enjoyed the book as a whole.

Yay! The Shreve collection is nearing complete. Can't wait to devour these and then surprise a lucky BCer with the full collection. Its been quite a while since I have read any chic lit, so plan to OD with Ms Shreve's collection very soon.
Many thanks Tantan :)

Read this in the car on the trip back home from Port Macquarie to Canberra. I am still unsure as to whether I enjoyed it or not.
This is the 3rd Anita Shreve novel I have read and I am starting to get a little frustrated with her style of writing, well more specifically, her endings. They seem so abrupt and (as with films) I really dislike it when you read a book and feel all it has done is leave the story unfinished in or der to you to read / buy another book (ie a sequel).
Oh well, I have another 12 of Shreve's books on my shelf so I guess I'd better get used to her writing as I am determined to persevere!
This was book 1 of my 666 for 2011 challenge, so that's America ticked off the list (35 books to go)

A great quick read
This one is off to a friend who is taking a heap of books off me for my clean out before I head overseas next week.
