There are some really tense moments in this book, but the one thing that I don't like about series is that I know that the main character will survive. The first book did surprise me a bit in the ending, but I was actually expecting this one. It didn't hurt the book at all, though, and I enjoyed it very much.

Turning Joanne into a djin was an interesting twist, but I agree that I could see the second twist at the end coming a mile away. This wasn't as enjoyable as the first... I thought that the djin stuff stretched my suspension of disbelief, but it was still fun. :D Going to elsi from the series swap.
