Thank you lovemylife! "Somewhere in the once-placid streets of San Francisco, a young man is on the run, charged by the media with a crime he didn't commit, hounded by demagogues, hunted by a desperate police department."

Journal Entry 9 by Plum-crazy at Brighouse, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Monday, April 11, 2011
Received today (thank you!) as part of the First Sentence VBB. I read the first sentence ("At about eight-ten on an unusually hot and sultry evening a couple of weeks before the Fourth of July, Michael Mullenm, a thirty-nine-year-old white accountant with a wife and three children all under eight, stopped his new black Honda Prelude at the corner of 19th and Dolores in the outer Noe Valley District of San Francisco.") & before I knew it, I was halfway through chapter 2....good job I'd just finished a book! Have a feeling I'm going to enjoy this.....

Journal Entry 10 by Plum-crazy at Brighouse, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Friday, April 15, 2011
Well, what a roller-coaster of a read that was! The first few chapters move on at a heart- poundingly fast pace as a lynch-mob turns on an innocent man & Kevin Shea, the "samaritan" who tries to save him finds himself wanted as a racist murderer.....& sadly for Kevin, it would seem that those in authority have no interest in proving him innocent as he makes a very handy scapegoat. All-in-all a very satisfying read. Read as part of the 2011 ULTIMATE CHALLENGE (#40) - themed "FOOD & DRINK" read for April (embedded ice!)
