A great read as the days get colder, dreaming of the warmth & sun in Tahiti. I enjoyed meeting the characters in the book, especially Materena & her daughter Leilani. A gentle tale of life & love in Tahiti.

This is a gentle light read, and one I had expected to love. I am therefore surprised that I didn't really. I thought Materena was a fabulously engaging character, with an authentic voice, and she is the best thing about the book. Overall I suppose enjoyed bits, but got a bit bogged down with it, and in parts I did find it to be a bit tedious. However that said I did quite like the ending, I really cheered for the choices that Materena and Leilani make for themselves.

I really loved this book, it was unlike anything I have ever read before!
It did make me feel as though I should be doing my housework though! The characters were warm and engaging and I enjoyed the portrayal of the mother-daughter relationship.
Thanks for sharing, I will be looking out for more by this author.

Rec yesterday and now added to a developing ring pile - 4 arrived on 1st Dec! Should be reading soonish!
Sorry for the delay. This arrived whilst I was in the midst of ring crisis, that I plunged into domestic chaos - I have Vespa's address so this is in the post to Dorset without further delay.
well, what a surprise!! I had completely forgotten about this ring and I have no recollection of what it might be about, so it will be a great surprise when I get to it. I have another ring in front of it, but I will get to it as quickly as possible.
