Superb storytelling throughout most of the book, but you can tell the author is beginning to wear out as he approaches the finish line. The last chapter, in particular, is probably the reason this book was a only finalist for the Man Booker Prize and not the winner. The somewhat anti-climactic ending does not change the fact that the rest of the book is terrific, but it simply means that it is the story itself--not how it ends--that will stay with you.
