I will read before I start A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket book spiral.

The books are quick reads and written such that both adults and children can enjoy.

From Our Editors
Get ready for the next episode in A Series of Unfortunate Events! Continuing the chilling adventures of the Baudelaire orphans, Lemony Snicket's 12th installment -- The Penultimate Peril -- promises more surprises at every turn and takes fans ever closer to the solution of Snicket's mysterious puzzle.

Annotation
Read all the Unfortunate Events in The Complete Incomplete Collection!

From the Publisher
Dear Reader,
If this is the first book you found while searching for a book to read next, then the first thing you should know is that this next-to-last book is what you should put down first. Sadly, this book presents the penultimate chronicle of the lives of the Baudelaire orphans, and the first thing you should know about this next-to-last book is that it is next-to-first in its supply of misery, despair, and unpleasantness.

Probably the next-to-last things you would like to read about are the first things you would encounter in this next-to-last book, including a harpoon gun, a rooftop sunbathing salon, two mysterious initials, three unidentified triplets, a notorious villain, an unsavory curry, and several people you might find distressingly familiar and familiarly distressing.

Next-to-last things are the first thing to be avoided, and so allow me to recommend that you put this next-to-last book down first, and find something else to read next at last, such as the next-to-last book in another chronicle, or a chronicle containing other next-to-last things, so that this next-to-last book does not become the next-to-last book you will read.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Synopsis
After any harrowing struggle, it is nice to consider checking into a hotel for a rest. In fact, this might be just the break Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire could use after their wearying deep-sea adventure.
A hotel can be a good choice for any family vacation. With so many floors, such a variety of rooms, and a curious array of guests, spending time in the safety of the right hotel can be the perfect learning environment for children of any age. A keen researcher like Klaus, an adept inventor like Violet, and a sharp-toothed culinary master like Sunny are all sure to find engaging diversions during their stay.

Regardless of how they pass their time while at a hotel, the three siblings will be sure to take in all the interesting sights and sounds -- and write them down -- just in case this episode turns out to be the darkest yet in a series of unfortunate events.

Just when you think perhaps the Baulelaire orphans' luck has changed you read this book.

The children have made it to the last safe place but there are villians and volunteers everywhere. The question is who is which.

I am excited to be nearing the end of the series and yet also sad.

I never would have guessed that the Baudelaire's would have to assist the villains with their evil plans, but that is indeed the case in this next-to-last installment of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Alas, I will have to read the last book to find out if the Baudelaire's will ever escape the clutches of Count Olaf and his evil plans!

I've had a busy weekend competing in the Community Olympics, but this arrived Saturday. My son had given up waiting and has read the library's copy of this, but I will go ahead a read it. I'm anxious to finish up the series! Thank you for sharing!

Hmm. This book seems to be more of a political statement and theorizing about the difference between good and bad or bad sins and regular sins. I can't imagine how this is going to end. I didn't think it was quite as captivating as the others.

On to the last. My son's been hanging on to it forever, but hasn't wanted to read it yet. I don't know if he will read it first or if I will, but one of us will get started right away.

I'm glad I'm almost finished with this series. It amazes me how clever Lemony Snicket can be. This series has been a lot of fun to read, but I found the "next to last" book a bit boring. I'm still waiting for a mailing address from withoutwings. On to the last book!

Journal Entry 11 by lostbookisland on Sunday, February 3, 2008
This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.

All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.

It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.
