Found in our local SPCA thrift shop. This has been on my wish list for quite a while!
Traveling home with FeralReader's friend for a visit...
My friend returned this book and I read it in June 20007.
I enjoyed this book very much. It definitely has the "feel" of a Jodi Picoult story, but has a stronger central focus than some, and I liked that. Deeper and more appealing character development in this one made for an engaging mystery.
A bit distracting for me were two scenes in which the protagonist Ellie is working on quilts with the Amish characters. She describes the process ("piecing" versus "quilting;" "table" instead of "frame") with incorrect terminology and jolted me out the "suspension of disbelief" that good fiction allows. Fortunately, those were brief moments in an otherwise good, solid story.

RELEASE NOTES:
Pulled from FeralReader's Wish-Come-True bookbox. Looks like a good story!
I thought this was an excellent book. It presents what feels like a realistic portrait of the Amish, and the unfolding backstory along with the fish-out-of-water aspect of the main character attorney living with the Amish family keeps it interesting.
