Not so much happens in this volume of the No. 1 Ladies series, although the book contains one of the more memorable moments in the whole series: when Mma Makutsi's brother passes away as a result of the "dreadful disease" ravaging Africa. On happier notes, Mma Makutsi moves into a more spacious apartment with hot and cold running water (financed by her increased earnings from the Kalahari Typing School for Men), and Mma Ramotswe and Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni finally tie the knot!
