Absolutely tnrilled to receive this - I have wanted to read this forever, and even more keenly since reading The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down earlier this year. Thank you so much!

This little book is a joy. A book about books, for book-lovers, this is a series of bite-size essays dealing with every aspect of book ownership and the delights of reading: merging your library with that of your beloved; to annotate or not; the thrill of 'you are there' reading; inscriptions and dedications and many many more. Perfect for bedtime, tube journeys, the queue at the Post Office, etc.

A surprise Valentine (with a sack of chocolates). I read this years ago and I've wanted to read it again ever since. Such a treat! Thank you, flanners. The post card was another piece of genius; my brother-in-law's family live in a shell house in Devon.

I'd give this a 20, if such a thing existed. The perfect Valentine Gift -- and for someone who wasn't even in the NSSV exchange. This book is all about love, surpassing love, love for books, and it is wonderful. The first time I read this, it came from the library and I had to give it back. It almost broke my heart. This time, unless I hear complaints from the ether, it is going into my Permanent Collection. What a glorious writer and reader Fadiman is. Thank you so much, Flanners.
