Thank you for this lovely read :) I felt a connection to the story because of my Jewish heritage and I felt such an overwelming sense admiration for the heroism and selflessness of these characters. A very moving story and history.
Anyway, I found it sitting in my restaurant where I worked. Apparently one of coworkers brought it in from outside on the bench and it sat there for a few days, then I finally said, "well, if no one else takes this, I will!". I've actually been wanting to read this book since almost 15 years ago when a booklegger introduced it to my second-grade class! I spent a little over an hour reading it in a cafe with a warm latte after finals, and then finished it on an airplane back to the mainland. I'm now going to leave it with my mom in Austin, TX and I hope she passes it along to someone else once she finishes (...though with her pace, that may take a while....)
