Yay, look what Santa/guinevere69 sent me for Christmas!

Thank you very much.

Have you ever had that conversation at a party or gathering, where nearly everyone has read a book, and all agree that it's a great book, but you've never read it? That has happened to me twice now, with this book. Sure, it is the kind of genre I normally avoid, but I am most excited to see this in my post box.

Thank you very much guinevere69. May all your Christmas wishes come true.

9 out of 10

Wow!

I just can't believe how much I enjoyed this book.

Okay, so it took me two years to actually get the book off the shelf and read it, but when I did, I couldn't put it down. I read it over two days (unfortunately I was expected to be domestic and sociable - Eck!), and found my mind turning the story over.

Exceptionally well written, and crafted, I just can't get over how good this book (and writer) are.

As I was reading it I was thinking of two eleven year old boys that I know who would just love to read this (will have to buy a copy for school), and I can understand why so many guys I know who claim that this was one of the best books they read in their teens. Part intergalactic fight-out , part psycho-drama this had a great balance of plot driven story and strong characters.

I'm still really surprised how much I enjoyed this book.

Now, I did have a quick google to read about the writer and the book, and found out that this was one of his first pieces of work (written in 1977), and he's a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints! And like Peter Wiggen, big on the 'nets.

I found it amazing that this book had not dated at all, and read beautifully in 2008.

I also learnt that the screenplay has been written by the author, and is soon meant to be made into a film. Excellent. I can't wait to see it.

Thank you! I just finished reading this book (library copy) but was looking to get a copy for my son Callam (12) as I think he will enjoy it.
