Parts were funny. But this ain't no Idiot Girls Action Adventure Guide. But the book is amusing in general

Sedaris is really funny on "this americna life" (NPR) but for some reason his writing isn''t exactly what I expected. I found myself wanting the book to end and tankfully it did. Maybe I should try another Sedaris book... but I will save time on NPR for him stil..

I'm so sorry, this came a couple days ago and I forgot to journal it. Came safely and I actually have started it. Thanks so much for sharing!

I always enjoy David Sedaris. There were a few times I laughed out loud in between chuckling to myself during this whole book and even had to read a chapter to my husband. He truly has a knack of making his family life seem funny even though when you get right down to it, I don't think it was. It makes you think of the movie "A Christmas Story" when reading it. He is one person I would like to have lunch with sometime. Thanks so much for sharing pixalu. The book will be on it's way to msjoanna tomorrow.

At long last, this book has arrived at me. I'm very excited to read this one and will start it during a long plane flight tomorrow.

This is my second David Sedaris book -- I started with Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (on audio), then followed up with this book. I really enjoy Sedaris' essays. He uses a nice mix of self-deprecating humor, vulnerability, and poking fun at those around him. There's nothing earth shattering in either book -- just observations about daily life. Recommended especially for commuting and other times when you only have short bursts of reading time. If you like audiobooks, these translate very well to that format.
