From Amazon - "With Russia on the brink of revolution, the least important thing to most residents of St Petersburg in January 1917 might have been who stabbed to death an unidentified couple on the frozen Neva River. Yet in Tom Bradby's doleful yet evocative The White Russian solving that mystery is pretty much all that keeps Alexander "Sandro" Ruzsky, chief investigator of the city police, from despairing over his medley of personal torments." This is a really good, atmospheric thriller, you can almost feel the tension in the air.

I had a love/hate relationship with this book i`m afraid. It was a case of getting too far into it to abandon it and yet not really enjoying it at times. The pace is as slow as the progress Russia has made over the last one hundred years!Having said that,i did think that the author created a really good atmosphere and i could feel the darkness and icy cold conditions as if i was actually there! The plot draws on real events that happened with the Russian Royal family and the saga of Rasputin.I am glad i stuck with it and got to the end but can`t actually say that i thought it was a really good read. Soon to be released.

Russia, history and thrillers being my weak spots, this should be a book that I love to read. That's why I chose it from NICNIC2's RABCK. Thank you very much for sending it out to me, I look forward to read it!! I'll keep you posted if I liked it as much as I expect to.
