Sorry I didn't get around to reading it. I got a little bit over ambitious with all the bookrings I was signed up for, and since uni started up I don't really have much time to read for pleasure.

Thanks to Debnance for sharing the book.

I posted it off to Sally906 today.

It has taken me a while to read this - I dipped into it - read a couple of chapters then put it down for a while. is a very intense book. I can't say that it has changed my life - but I am glad i read it.

Some very interesting ideas about life.

I must admit I haven''t finished reading it. I will, sometime, as I have an audio version of the book. I guess it will be a lot easier to listen to it while walking. I suppose it just wasn''t the time for me to read this kind of book. Too many things on my mind these days.

I sent the book over to gaysocialworker yesterday.

Thanks for sharing it, debnance!

This is my second attempt to try to read Zen, and I have taken plenty of time to plough through it. I’ve read part one, but cannot seem to muster the interest in pressing on. While I share some of the wanderlust of author Robert Pirsig, some of his quips in the book are too much for my taste.

That’s really why he got upset that day when he couldn’t get his engine started. It was an intrusion on his reality. It just blew a hole right through his whole groovy way of looking at things and he would not face up to it because it seemed to threaten his whole life style. In a way he was experiencing the same sort of anger scientific people have sometimes about abstract art, or at least used to have. That didn’t fit their life style either” (p. 49).

Perhaps I am looking for travel memoir, rather than commentary on life and the meaning of the universe. I may decide to find this book on tape, as one of the other readers suggested. Others tell me it’s a great book.

Passing on to NewEnglandHiker in MA, who is next on the list. Waiting on the address for shipment.

After many years of hearing about this book, it was time to read it. It is a strange but interesting journey that Pirsig presents -- a true reflection of the times in which it was written. For me, it was a slow and thought-provoking read. This is now ready to continue its journey. Thanks to debnance for making it available.
