From the back cover: "After a startling diagnosis from his doctor, Oswald T. Campbell leaves behind the cold and damp of the oncoming Chicago winter to spend what he believes will be his last Christmas in the warm and welcoming town of Lost River, Alabama. There he meets rhe postman who delivers mail by boat, the store owner who nurses a broken heart, the ladies of the Mystic Order of the Royal Polka Dots Secret Society, who do clandestine good works. And he meets a little redbird named Jack, who is at the centre of this tale of a magical Christmas when something so amazing happened to those who witnessed it have never forgotten it. Once you experience the wonder, you too will never forget A Redbird Christmas."

This little book arrived today in my mailbox - - the first book to be received from the First Sentences Mystery Virtual BookBox. Thank you so very much, loveamystery! I'm so very pleased as it looks like a wonderful book to read, especially leading up to Christmas. I've read a couple of books by Fannie Flagg before but not this one. Can't wait to start reading!

Finished reading this wonderful little book, and I'm so glad it came my way. The storyline was unique and while it gave me a warm, satisfied feeling - - and is definitely heartwarming! - - it also spoke to the human-ness of each character and exposed the failings, hurts and unfair realities that Life often throws to each one of us. This story showed in many ways how important it is to reach out and touch/care for others and how the whole is strengthened by each of the parts . . . and it showed that miracles really do happen if you believe and look for them hard enough.
