Journal Entry 1 by hendertuckian from Henderson, Nevada USA on Saturday, November 11, 2006
This anthology of Caribbean writers was selected for the drama "I Don't Want to Bathe" by Cecil A "Blazer" Williams. It also has many other authors and a wide variety of reading. Poetry, short stories, book reviews, and even some art makes this a book that may not be read from cover to cover but thumbed through a number of times and read when you are in the mood.

Journal Entry 5 by hobbit from Surabaya, Jawa Timur Indonesia on Thursday, December 07, 2006

This arrived safely in today's mail. Thanks, hendertuckian! Like you, I had wanted it for Cecil Williams who is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, but I see by the little author biographies in the back that I can also use it for some other Carribean countries: - Julie Babcock from Belize (not native)
- Nicolette Bethel and Christian Campbell from Bahamas
- Winston Hackett (and two others) from Trinidad
And if I hadn't already gotten an anthology with US Virgin Island authors, there are a number of those here, along with Guyana, Cuba, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. I'm looking forward to it.

Journal Entry 6 by hobbit from Surabaya, Jawa Timur Indonesia on Saturday, December 23, 2006

I enjoyed most of this collection. The short stories (which are very short) were my favorites. The play was a bit odd, I thought, but I'm not generally a reader of plays and might enjoy it more onstage. The poems were a mixed bag and I enjoyed many of them. There were some lovely drawings sprinkled throughout the pages. I ended up just skimming many of the essays which were a mixture of reviews/commentary on other Caribbean writings especially that of V. S. Naipaul after he won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
