Girl with a Pearl Earring

Enjoyed the book a lot more than the film, which was beautifully shot, but concentrated more on setting up every scene to resemble a Vermeer Dutch interior painting, than it did on developing the story. A very easy and enjoyable read.

The story moves a bit slow, but it was fun to read all the descriptions of Delft. Sadly I found none of the characters sympathetic, so I never got really engaged in the story.

Left over at the Meet Up last night so I took it away to be released again in the OBCZ in Morecambe in a few weeks.
One of my favourite books and also one of my favourite paintings (a copy I got out the Washington Museum of Art hangs over my fireplace).

Popped in with a couple of books for my cafeine fix and spotted this. It's a book I have meant to get round to reading for ages. Got through a couple of chapters with my coffee and found it very descriptive and thoughtful. I think I am going to enjoy this one!

For a book in which not very much happens this is an enjoyable read. I suppose part of the pleasure is waitng for something to happen. Could be described as 'a womans book' but that would not be quite right. It is also a book that some men (thoughtful ones perhaps) would enjoy and probably some teenagers would like it very much too.
This will probably get onto high school reading/examination lists methinks!.
comes recommeneded - Mrs XLG is going to read this one then it's back into the wild for it.

Caught this off the Chill OBCZ shelf just seconds after it was left there!
