A bit dated (the answers to many of these "imponderable" questions could be easily solved nowadays with a quick google), and very US-centric, but a few interesting bits.

Actually, one of the most interesting things about it was not so much the answers to the questions as the cultural differences that some of the questions and answers implied.

For example, there's a question about why the flush handles on toilet cisterns are on the left. The answer explains how that makes it easier to flush the toilet while you're sitting on it.... to which my response was WHAT??? Flush the toilet while you're sitting on it??? Wouldn't your bottom get splashed by the flush? (and, presumably, by whatever you've just deposited in the toilet bowl!) That's not something I've ever heard of anyone doing (though toilet habits aren't really something that come up often in polite conversation, so how would I know?), yet the way the book casually mentioned it implies it's quite common in America.

There were lots of other examples too (most of them less gross than that one :-)) that emphasised just how different American culture is to our own.
