Inspired by deadendmind, I decided to introduce fellow BCers to the best artists from Hong Kong, my hometown. I love the movie, and the work here is equally gorgeous. The drawing is painstakingly detailed and each page is breathtakingly beautiful.
I decided to get my own PC copy and offer this as a bookray.

The book arrived in yesterday's mail - it looks great!
I have seen the movie and I loved it for it's use of color and imagery. The artwork in this adaption was also wonderful. After reading it through, I leafed through it a few more times, just ramdomly enjoying the artwork. Finally, I had to let go and move it along to the next person on the list. Thanks azuki, for making this available!

Ug! I was swamped with company over the holidays, so I finally just got to the post office today. Shipped to Arwen-Galadriel by regular Canada Post.
I received the book last night and I am already finished. To say that I enjoyed it would be an understatement. I'm thinking that I will have to go out and buy a copy for myself. I had also seen the movie and loved the movie, but it's been awhile so I couldn't remember all of the details of the movie which is fine as it means I was able to enjoy the book that much more. I can't say enough good things about the artwork. I loved the colours used, the details, I loved it all. Thank you so much for sharing azuki. Definately two thumbs up. Will get the book on its way as soon as I get an address.

Sorry, went underground in TBR pile. Loved the artwork, especially the resist work with pastels or pencil and watercolour, wanted Wing Shing Ma to give more details on his techniques in the notes.
I'm not a martial arts fan and the story was slim (haven't seen the film) but the illustration was rich and satisfying. Thanks azuki.

Sujie - good question. I figure I will post here just so everybody gets the answer.
Now you mention it, I notice that the authors are listed as Wing Shing Ma, Zhang Yimou. For Ma, they put the family name last, while for Zhang, it goes first, as the order in original Chinese.

This is usually not the kind of thing I would read, but having watched the movie and being completly swept away by it's beauty and having a best friend that is a Manga fan, I decided to give it a shot. I must say I was amazed as I looked at each page and felt impressed by every image and detail. I ended up looking through it several times as it deserves to be appreciated as many times as possible.
Thank you for sharing this azuki. I'll be sending it on it's way to Finland tommorrow.
