Thank you Wyldewomin, this book was in my wish list. Thanks for sending it to me, it was a wanderful surprise when I opened the mailbox and I saw the yellow-brown envelope.

This was a a light, entertaining book and and fun murder mystery. The first book in the series. Every once in a while, I love to just sit back with a short, fun mystery like this novel. Goldy, a single mom and caterer, finds herself in the middle of a sinister murder plot by catering a wake for one of her son's former teachers. Goldy knows all of the usual suspects, and the handsome sheriff can't help but ask Goldy for her help. This book is a lot of fun, and the recipes sound wonderful! The character of Goldy is a bit whiny at times, but I like the fact that she is plucky and determined to make a better life for herself and Arch. When she gets stressed she cooks, and many of her recipes are included in the book. The food is yummy and the mystery interesting.

This book will be travelling on from the annual meeting on the beach in Castricum, the Netherlands.

I picked this up from the 'recommended' (aanrader) shelf at the biggest Dutch BookCrossing meeting, on the beach at Castricum. I've just realised it will fit the Ulimate Challenge theme of clothes and jewellery in September, with an embedded 'ring' in the title.

Journal Entry 11 by bookguide at Wijchen, Gelderland Netherlands on Sunday, March 20, 2016
I enjoyed this, but it left no lasting impression. I'm not sure it was meant to. Perusing a few other reviews, I discover it is a 'cosy mystery', so now I know what that means. I won't be actively avoiding other books in this series, but I won't be actively looking for them, either.

Random notes:
The Colorado Broncos were mentioned on page 48.
This book has passed through the hands of Oppem, a BookCrosser from the Pacific Northwest who sadly passed away a couple of years ago.
There was an unexpected suicide theme.
Archie is a Dungeons and Dragons fan.
I didn't realize the term 'helicopter mom' was so old, but it became popular in1990 when this book was written and I only heard about it later when my eldest was born and I was looking into parenting skills. (p.93)

Was still on the table at the end of the meeting. As there is not so much space for the books I took it along to release it.

It may be that I will read it first, but it could also be that I will release it soon in or around Wageningen where a lot of foreign students can be found ;)
