Caring for her grandmother was a labor of love, but busy executive Christine Powers worried about the paper piling up in her office. And no sooner had she arrived on Mackinac Island during the frantic holiday season than her haughty attitude was challenged by Will Lambert, her grandmother's enigmatic boarder. His laid-back style grew on her, as did his steadfast faith in this season of joy and wonder. But an ultimatum to return to work or lose her job forced Christine to decide between her heart and her career.

****another great book by this author. I have read quite a few books by Martin and have enjoyed them. This one was so well written that I felt as though I was in the little snow town myself. A great book to read with a cup of cocoa or hot tea. I enjoyed the characters and loved watching Christine mature and grow.

Proverbs 16:9 - In his heart, a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

This proverb is wonderfully illustrated in this story, and it's a lesson we all need to be reminded of, and one that I especially needed to reflect upon at this particular stage in my life. There's a lot about the female protagonist that I related to: how she thrived on her fast paced city lifestyle, yet desperately needed a simpler and more spiritual daily way of life. My dreams invision a casual summery enviroment, so it's to the author's credit that she described winter/Christmas in the frozen isolated Mackinac Island in such a beautiful and appealing way to even my tropical mindset. I loved the age-related dilemma that the couple faced, as well as the difficulties with his parent's unreasonable expectations and they way the couple handled them. All-in-all, I found this to be a very inspiring and introspective story.

Sweet book that I really enjoyed. Christine takes a week's vacation to care for granny, who's recovering from a stroke in her island home. Only her back up - her parents - have their own health issues, and now she's stuck for a month, not a week. And granny's live in boarder catches her attention, but he's a devout Christian and a LOT younger. Could she leave her city job and resettle with him on the island, doing an internet presence for his glass working business? And can SHE reconcile the issues with their age difference?

Now available - will release in December as part of the Holiday release challenge.

Received from nancynova as a RABCK. I've been to Mackinaw Island, Michigan many times so I'm anxious to read this story. Thank you so much!

This book brought back many happy memories of times spent on Mackinaw Island. Even though this story took place in the winter. I remember many of the places mentioned in the book, when I was there in the summer. If you ever get to this island be sure to try the fudge. It's wonderful. This was a inspirational love story.
