The McAfee Twins are back in their second case...and this time it's personal. Aunt Reba and Cousin Robert have been arrested for a murder they didn't commit, and it's up to Terry and Kerry to keep their relatives off death row. "A wild, entertaining romp." - Booklist

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
The Butcher has come to call!.. along with the MANGLER and the VAMPIRE... How perfect could the timing be!!! I am going to start a triangle of rings for these three books by this author who I prodded into sending these onto a bookcrossing adventure. She is on MYSPACE and I was an instant fan. I will keep the rings USA only at first then after 10 readers each,,, they can go international to see where the world takes them. I would PLEASE request these were donated ESPECIALLY TO BE RINGS.. not to become part of your personal collection... they are to travel and meet readers all over the United States and then beyond. You can post your comments here and know that the author will get to see the journal entries. =) I don't know her personally but I've decided she has a great sense of humor and was reluctant to PUSH her books which is why I like her even more. A HUMBLE WRITER!!!! Well.. She mailed me some cool postcards and bookmarks that will travel with the bookrings... take one and pass the rest along... a souvenier from the author lest ye be tempted to KEEP THE book. Don't you dare or the Butcher The Mangler or the Vampire ARE SURE TO FIND YOU.... ♥ bbl ♥

P.S.
These are the three books and the links to each the rings... in case you want to see where they are...

THE BUTCHER OF BEVERLY HILLS
5 of 5 stars on amazon so far out of 10 reviews.: From Publishers Weekly
What if Stephanie Plum had an ex-cokehead for a sister? Gorgeous twin crime fighters battle a bunch of shady dudes in screenwriter Colt's vivacious debut, the first in a planned trilogy. Kerry and Terry McAfee are both tall, lanky and red-headed, but the similarity stops there: Terry's done time for cocaine possession and has a thing for dangerous women; Kerry's a UCLA grad with a fondness for dark, funny men. Together they're the L.A. PI firm Double Indemnity Investigations, a two-woman, perpetually broke organization dedicated to solving crimes, no job too big or small. When their aunt Reba, the Canasta Queen of Beverly Hills, sends her wealthy friend Lenore to ask the twins for their help in finding the $10,000 her playboy husband ran off with, Kerry and Terry find themselves up to their matching leather jackets in trouble. All roads lead to Dr. Hattrick, a pill-dispensing plastic surgeon who performs face-lifts on the Beverly Hills ladies-who-lunch crowd, but a cast of similarly menacing ne'er-do-wells, including a gun-toting Russian moll, a sleazy lawyer and a cop with a mullet and an attitude, keep the surprises coming. This is a fast-paced, gum-snapping, snarky chick-lit mystery with sparkle to spare. (July)

MANGLER OF MALIBU CANYON
4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon right now
From Publishers Weekly
After kicking some hijackers' butts on a plane arriving at LAX, PI twin sisters Kerry and Terry McAfee get on their pink Harley, zip onto the Pacific Coast Highway and cruise into Malibu for their second crime-solving romp (after 2005's The Butcher of Beverly Hills). Their wealthy great-aunt, Reba, and her middle-aged Ding Dong–addicted son, Robert, who's missing from a posh rehab facility, are in big trouble. After a headless corpse turns up rolled in a rug stashed in Reba's new Malibu digs and Robert surfaces with the matching head, both relatives are arrested and hustled off to jail. In their search for the real killer, the sleuthing sisters dodge a deadly over-the-hill TV actress, mobsters, New Age chicanery, far-out cosmic connections and a cheesy film producer. If the slaphappy plot defies believability, Kerry (the boy-crazy twin addicted to law enforcement types with big guns) and Terry (the twin who goes for leggy ladies) provide plenty of laughs. (June)

THE VAMPIRE OF VENICE BEACH
THIS IS A 2007 PUBLICATION DATE BOOK!!!! So there are NO reviews yet on AMAZON.. YOU lucky dogs...I got it early!!!! WOW!!! He He He... Here's the blurb
Book Description

The hilariously dysfunctional crime-fighting duo of Kerry and Terry McAffee somehow survived the Butcher of Beverly Hills and the Mangler of Malibu Canyon. But will they be able to shine some California sunshine onto the Vampire of Venice Beach?

The action kicks off when the twins’ pal Darby Applewhite, a.k.a. Ephemera, Queen of the Undead, hires them to escort her hearse through the organized bedlam of the annual Venice Goth Parade. As a way of promoting the opening of the highly anticipated Dark Arts Gallery, Ephemera has planned to pop out of her coffin just as the hearse passes in front of the gallery. But while the twins are working crowd control, Ephemera suddenly pitches forward out of the coffin and onto the street—and Kerry and Terry are shocked to discover that the Queen of the Undead is in fact dead after all.

The stunt-gone-wrong gets more mysterious when the girls spot fang marks on Ephemera’s neck. Suddenly the parade of harmless misfits is transformed into a stream of potential suspects and the sleuthing sisters are plunged into a nefarious world of dentists specializing in prosthetic fangs, and a goth cult led by a blood drinker with a forked tongue. Will a host of welcome and unwelcome distractions—threats scrawled on their Harley in blood, vampires climbing through their skylight at night, amorous advances from Kerry's sometime love interest Detective Boatwright, and a litter of new puppies—derail the twins from getting their ghoul? Not bloody likely.

I just finished reading round two with the twins. There are SO many suspects and leads and possibilities right up until the end that it reminded me of the old wella Balsam hair commercial AND THEN THEY'LL tell two friends about it and so on and so on... and before you know it the screen is filled with Farrah Fawcett times 36 faces only in the book they are all different blondes (or different potential crime seenarios?) Until like Wella Balsam the twins come to the rescue at the end and smooth everyones frizzy loose ends. And boy were there were there ever loose ends... like 70's shaggy layers of them... but... all tied up like a boy(or girl 'for Terry') scout getting his/her merit badge. *potential spoiler* Of course there has to be Boatwright interruptus, you know to suspend the tension but MAN... talk about your exit stage left! Have mercy on the poor girl. She was traumatized! ;-) Off to vraciousrdr next in the ring...

10 out of 10

The inauspicious beginning of the prologue had me worried. Groan, "Please do not let this be like Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milone series where every single book up until P or something ilke that started off the same way in chapter 1, with a review of who she was and background." Hopefully, the rest of the series won't begin with a review. And while some readers may need it, others don't. However, at least Jennifer Colt spices it up and it isn't almost a word for word prologue as Grafton's were.

But I digress. "The Mangler of Malibu Canyon" is a delightful treat for the mystery lover or any reader, especially one who delights in witticisms and a constant, "hmm, maybe he's the bad guy" refrain in the reader's head.

Plenty of laugh out loud parts, one in particular made my spew my water across the room. From page 261, "Yes, I will do your bidding...right after I smack the shit out of you!" A Caution: Do not read while eating or drinking. Bad manners will result. Label needs to be affixed to this book.

2nd in the series. Can't wait to read the next installment in the crazy McAfee twin series. :)

6 out of 10

Sadly, I didn't enjoy this book as much as its predecessor. At first I thought the Children of the Cosmos was a poke at the Scientologists in LA, but as things got out of hand that obviously wasn't the case. I can suspend disbelief for a while (and living just outside of LA, I'll believe a lot), but too much of the plotline required suspension of disbelief for me. I did, however, think that the last 10 chapters tied up the book very nicely.

Just finished this book and I've written to NancyW1 to see if she wants this 2nd book in the series. (We skipped her on the first as she already had a copy.) As soon as I hear from her, I'll send the book on out in the mail.

I did enjoy this book very much, although I think that I too liked the first in the series a little better. Too many suspects here got me confused. I did love the "Smith twins" adventure in the first chapter though--thought it was hysterical!

9 out of 10

Well, I couldnt wait to finish my other book, so started on this. Another great read, but i have to say i preffered the first one. That said, i did really like this book, and cant wait for the next one. Another funny, easy read, but i did get a little confused at times, when references were made of previous characters... I found myself scanning back a couple of times to find out who james was for example :)

overall, i loved the book, and may the twins live on forever! (and will she ever get her man?)

Ready for posting to CandyDarling :) Enjoy.
