Picked this up at lunch today, thanks!

Been looking forward to this one for a while - already heard Neil Gaiman reading bits from it at Authors on Tour.

Edit 1/14/07:

Um. Must read more Neil Gaiman. Soon.

Definitely worth waiting for..I'm going to have to look for a copy to send my brother. (6/02/07 - Got one, thanks ghir!)

Back in my custody. May be going to Potok-fan, if that wish has not already been fulfilled.

To Potok-fan, 3/13/07, with a sticker that must be nearly 20 years old.

O, Fabulous fabulous ghir - I am hyperventilating! The book was in the mailbox when I got home from work this evening and I thought, "That ghir That Fabulous ghir, she shouldn't have! Global Priority Mail, indeed!" (Haven't you been reading the forums? Don't you know that USPS is doing away with international surface mail altogether? You oughtta use it before you lose it.)

But then I sat down at the computer to journal and found the TEAM BANZAI sticker inside. Breathe... Breathe... Oh Wow! I celebrated my 18th birthday at a midnight showing of BB at Harvard Square. I went to college with two Banzai posters - the movie poster and a very teen-y poster of Buckaroo playing the guitar. But I never got hold of any official promotional material myself. Until now. I am awed. Thank you.

For those interested in Anansi Boys, just please ignore the last paragraph. Obviously I haven't read the book yet, but I will say that I joined bookcrossing as a result of Neil Gaiman saying nice things on his blog, and that reading "Fat Charlie" on the back cover makes me start singing, I don't want no part of this crazy love, which you can listen to a snippet of (Paul, not me) here

10 out of 10

What a joy to read a book that is intelligent, but has a happy ending. Or should I say, a novel that has a happy ending, but is clever and witty. Or even, amusing and yet insightful.

I had to travel to Helsinki and back on Saturday, and this novel begged to be taken along and read on the train. I have just finished it now. I’m pleased to say that although I figured out what must be the story behind Spider fairly quickly, Gaiman didn’t resolve it in what seemed to me the obvious (only?) way.

There were more bits that reminded me of Douglas Adams than I expected.

Thank you, Fabulous ghir, for sending me this wishlist book. I’ll probably take it with me to New England later this month and release it there.

Potok-fan

p.s. I once had a friend from the north of England who said “Bless” just like Daisy. Nice to be reminded. :)

p.p.s. Here’s a snippet of “Yellow Bird”. And better yet, here’s a Polish movie trailer, not (as you might think) for a Polish movie, but for this very book (er, the Polish translation of same).

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

I've just seen that this isn't an "O"BCZ but a "U"BCZ! I guess that means UNofficial? Either way, I plan to release this and another title at the post office sometime Tuesday morning.

UPDATE (15 May): My suitcase stayed in Amsterdam an extra night, so the release has been delayed. Sorry about that! Northwest Airlines did give me an overnight pack (which included a t-shirt), thereby appeasing me considerably, but it doesn't help the bookcrossing. This book WILL show up at the UBCZ eventually, assuming my suitcase shows up eventually...

UPDATE (16 May): I dropped the book off today. The book sharing zone is wonderfully visible as soon as you enter the post office. About half a dozen books were out; none appeared to be registered on bookcrossing. I added my two and took one away with me.
