Journal Entry 1 by Semming from Helsinki, Uusimaa Finland on Friday, October 20, 2006
Back Cover: "This is Joseph Brodsky's second major collection of poetry to appear, and includes both poems originally written in Russian (often translated in collaboration with the author) and the well-known "Elegy for Robert Lowell", written by Brodsky in English. The Nobel Prize for Literature, awarded to Brodsky in 1987, confirms the fact that he is one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century. A writer in exile, like Nabokoc and Solzhenitsyn, Brodsky also has a place in the native tradition of Russian poetry alongside the great moderns, Mandelstam, Akhmatova, Pasternak and Tsvetayeva." Oxford Poets series. Bought from a library sale.

Got this yesterday from meet-up in Helsinki, because I have a friend who likes Brodsky and I thought that she might enjoy this.
