Micronesian Legends includes legends of the islands in a cultural context that integrates history, geography, and economics to emphasize the importance of both modern and traditional knowledge. An ideal text for young adults, it stimulates discussion of local culture and values, and inspires further reading and writing.

It's divided into sections, each encompassing materials from different areas of the islands: Northern Mariana Islands and Guam, Palau, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae, Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Note: send to hendertuckian when done

This book of folk tales and legends includes some bits of cultural insights, political history, and geographic information which helped give the stories context and meaning.

Although it's not clear that the authors of this book are from these countries, the stories themselves do come from these places. So I am counting them as my reading for the Olympic Challenge for the countries of Micronesia, Palau, and Guam.

I have to go to the Post Office tomorrow, so I will send this off to hendertuckian.

It has arrived an I am putting close to the top of mt tbr. The cover and the corner got a little chewed in the mailing but it is still very readable.
This books was one of those that I enjoyed thumbing through a reading a little here and there. I used this book to satisfy 3 country requirements: Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and Palau.
