This was an excellent read and the smell was like a hymn book!

I found it full of humour, much of which I may have missed due to it being pertinent to the time of publication. Dickens does write a good story (I suppose that''s why he''s been so popular), and he paints scenes so well with his language. Some great characters and perhaps the first reference to "If there''s blame there''s a claim" style of representation!

This is destined to be sent to a bookcrosser in the same way as I received it. I''m sure elham can keep a secret!

I finished this at the end of May, but am a bit behind with JEs ...

For about the first quarter of the book I was wondering what all the fuss was about: it was amusing enough, but the eponymous hero seememd to be revered for no particular reason, in fact I was wondering if his friends had made him leader of their club as a joke that was bordering on cruel. However as the story developed it became more engrossing & I could see why people awaited the next episode with eagerness.

I agree with molekillby - the volume itself is a nice one, and I will have to make sure it gets passed on to appreciative readers. Thank you to you both.
