Journal Entry 1 by LastEdition on Saturday, April 12, 2008
1987 edition. Synopsis (amazon): Modern-day Spain is a country changing at bewildering speed. In less than half a century, a predominantly rural society has been transformed into a mainly urban one. A dictatorship has become a democracy. A once-repressed society is being spoken of as a future “Sweden of the Mediterranean.” John Hooper’s outstanding portrayal of the new Spanish society explores the causes behind these changes, from crime to education, gambling to changing sexual mores. This new, up-to-date edition is the essential guide to understanding twenty-first-century Spain: a land of paradox, progress, and social change.

Journal Entry 2 by Orhun from London , Greater London United Kingdom on Sunday, April 20, 2008
I have found the book in Hyde Park under a tree on 20th April 2008, Sunday at 5 pm. I had never heard of bookcrossing before nevertheless, I was amazed by the idea and thought it was brilliant. My first impression was that the book resembled a CIA factbook on Spain; you could read everything about Spain. Although the book was published in 1987, some information in some chapters would still be valid today: specifically historical developments. First, it was not appealing to read the book, but then, it reminded me of that beautiful brunette Spaniard from the Canary Islands that entered my life and memories in the spring of 1981. I have now decided to read the book for her memory cherished quite frequently even after all those years. I am planning to post the book to Canary Islands after I finish reading it.
