Journal Entry 1 by lizzyblack from Ponte Lambro, Lombardia Italy on Thursday, September 28, 2006
Synopsis (www.amazon.co.uk) Rebecca Bloomwood has the dream job. She's a personal shopper, so is able to spend other people's money all day instead of her own. And she gets paid for doing it. The perfect job, the perfect man - gorgeous Luke Brandon - and now...the perfect wedding. Yes, Luke has proposed and wedding bells are in sight. No excuses are needed to start the shopping trip of all time. And Becky's parents are just assuming that the wedding will be at home - a marquee in the garden and Becky in her mum's wedding dress, which she's been saving specially for the occasion. But Luke's mother has very different ideas - a huge affair in New York in a forest glade setting - or perhaps a Venetian Ball, or a fin de siecle extravagance? Now Becky's getting confused. She doesn't want to say 'no' to anyone. The plans are going ahead, and soon it will be too late to turn back - from either wedding...
****
This is the craziest so far! You just stand there, keep on reading, and in the meanwhile you think "OK, now, she can't really do this". But this is Becky, again.. the one and only ;)

Becky strikes again, with her candid admission that, all right the best is to stick to tradition, with the blossoming cherry tree in your parents' garden, but a grand wedding at the Plaza is something you just can't kick out if someone offers it to you for free... honesty with herself (at least!) is a new quality of that adds to her usual big imagination.

Very funny like the other of the series.
Now I want to get married!!!! Ok, I admit, only to set up my wedding list: so much fun shopping without spending money! Happy shopping!

Funny just like the others, I found it a little more reflective, expecially in the relationship between Luke and Elinor. I also found Becky a little grown up ...even if she just can't stop messing all up! What I really can't understand is how she can keep everything secret to everybody...but most of all to her boyfriend...I could never do it!
Ready to leave for new adventures! Thanks for the ring, Liz!

At least I've to understant that sometimes a crazy woman can become a very smart person. It's easy spending money and having secrets, but having a wonderful set for a wedding and keeping it fake and secret is the smartest move I red in a Shopaholic book. I really enjoyed this book. Even if I've to say that at the beginning it wasn't funny. But it was only calm before shocking everywhere worldwide. Now we (the readers) have an adult Becky and a fragile (sometime) Luke. In this book the most important thing was the great link you can have in your family. Who cares enchanted woods or string players in a wedding when you can have your family and your friend. Even if, I've to say it, the two of them together is the best solution. The only bad point in this book is the fact that I'm beginning Beckyaholic. Thanks to Lizzyblack for the ring.

Ritorna a casa dopo le feste, grazie mille!!

I really enjoyed this book, although I couldn't help thinking all the way through "Phone your mum, tell her the problem, move the Oxshott wedding by a few days, and do both..."
Definitely on the lookout for the Shopaholic books I haven't read yet now!
