For Sarah Friedman the chance to journey to the southwest to buy Native Indian art for her family's successful New York store comes at a time of personal transition. Determined to put aside romantic disapointments, she seeks new perspectives in the serenity of the vast desert landscape. Then her car breaks down near the home of a solitary artist on the Navajo reservation....

After years of turmoil, Ben Lonefeather has finally gained control of his life. He devotes his days to his work and caring for the coyotes he rescued as pups. When Sarah Friedman shows up stranded, he grudgingly offers her a room. Their practical arrangement deepens into a connection that leaves them both passionately alive, profoundly changed...and shattered by circumstances that will separate them. As Sarah and Ben seek to build meaningful lives, they will be forced to choose between love and duty, commitment and freedom-and learn to fight for what matters most...

This is a replacement of the bookray for http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/2607129 as that copy is getting a little worn out and http://bookcrossing.com/journal/4062353 which stalled... third times a charm!

Would like to turn this into a book ray since it has already traveled so much and isn't done traveling. Since this is my first ray, I'm going to have a few basic rules. Suggestions always welcome!

1. Please try to have this book read within 3 weeks. I know this isn't possible, but if you make an effort to try that is all I can ask.

2. Please journal when you receive the book.

3. When about halfway through, please contact the next person on the list for their mailing address.

4. Please journal again when you've read the book and it is on its way.

5. Have fun! Reading is supposed to be fun!

6. To the last person in the ray: Please keep this book moving... RABCK it, give it to a friend, etc... just please keep it moving once you're done reading it. Thanks!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

I should have made a journal entry but clicked the wrong button. The book is on its way to MA by Canada Post.
It was an interesting story, with information about the art of sculpturing and the art world in general. It was a love story where opposites attract and in some ways I don't think that it was very realistic. However it held my interest to the end and will be enjoyed by many more, I am sure. Thank you Goaliegirl for letting me be a part of this bookray.

Journal Entry 5 by dietcokemama from Beverly, Massachusetts USA on Friday, November 17, 2006
I am way behind in journaling, due to computer glitches and major disorganization. The book is here and I am reading it.

Journal Entry 6 by dietcokemama from Beverly, Massachusetts USA on Monday, November 20, 2006
I liked this book more than I thought I would. It wasn't my usual type, but I enjoyed the romance, and the issues of cultural differences. All in all a very enjoyable read. I have pm'd mickey81 for her address and will be sending it along once I get it.

Thank you thegoaliegirl for doing so much to keep this ring moving and for including me in it.

Journal Entry 7 by dietcokemama from Beverly, Massachusetts USA on Wednesday, December 27, 2006
I'm so sorry to have kept this book for so long. I've had Mickey81's address for weeks but just mailed the book out today via air mail. December has been a really bad month for us and it just got lost in the shuffle.
So sorry!!

Journal Entry 10 by AgnesXNitt from Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 7, 2007
Received on Monday 5th March - started today.
Thanks for sending on Mickey81 - grazie! And thanks to Mandi (thegoaliegirl) for hosting this ring :)
And finished today too! Yes, nothing on the tv and I am feeling much better. How much easier it is to read without having to juggle a tissue and a runny nose. So to speak! Anyway, I did enjoy this book, not my usual fare at all. I liked the way Davis Stein painted the characters, not giving you everything about them in one go, but letting them reveal themselves as the story unfolds. I did guess the way it would end, though to be fair it could have gone either way. A satisfying read - thanks again Mandi!
Am PMing AnglersRest for her Address so I can get this off in the post soonest :)

Journal Entry 11 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Tuesday, March 13, 2007

After a slightly slow start I could feel myself becoming absorbed into this book. A business trip buying Native Indian art work for the family successful New York stores leads Sarah to meet and subsequently fall in love with Ben Lonefeather. Ben has struggled; he lives alone sharing his life with three coyote pups he rescued, his life is built around self preservation and he spends his time making jewellery and sculpting.

This is not a typical love story. It is the story of two people from different walks of life, different religons and cultures. Are they prepared, once they admit they love each other to build a life together without others approval?

After a slightly slow start I could feel myself becoming absorbed into this book, and I really enjoyed it. It is written in a very comfortable manner and the storyline has a very gentle feel to it. One for the permanent collection!

Will be off to WelshHelen as soon as I have an address.

Journal Entry 13 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Saturday, March 31, 2007
Arrived safely today, thanks, AnglersRest. I'm hoping to get a lot of reading done over Easter :-)

Journal Entry 14 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Friday, May 4, 2007
I absolutely loved this book - definitely one which I found very hard to put down and will stay in my mind for a long time. Great characters - especially Ben and Sarah - a wonderful storyline, well written and completely mesmerising :-)

I'm sad to see that this is Jessica Davis Stein's only book as I think she writes beautifully and she captured the atmosphere of both New York and Arizona so vividly.

Thank you so much, thegoaliegirl, for sharing this great book. I haven't heard from either Hellie or purpletx so I've just PMd rebeccaljames. I hope to get the book moving again soon.

Journal Entry 15 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, May 9, 2007
rebeccaljames asked to be skipped so I posted the book to captmom today, surface mail. I was sad to see it go...

Journal Entry 17 by CaptMom from Seneca, South Carolina USA on Friday, June 29, 2007
The book was better than I anticpated, after a shaky start. The characters were amusing. As an English major though, the grammatical errors began to grate on me. Still an enjoyable read. Off to Lunar 73 on Monday, if I can find the post office. I just moved to this town this week. That is why it took me awhile to finish the book.

Journal Entry 18 by Lunar73 from Sheffield, Tasmania Australia on Wednesday, July 11, 2007
Arrived in the post today. will start it as soon as I've finished the book I'm on at the mo. Thanks CaptMom.
