Very well written, but it's hard to stomach sometimes. It's basically about a pedophile who marries this woman to be close to her 12 year old daughter. Even so, I think this merits sharing, so I will see if anyone is interested in a bookring!
****This is a copy of the PM I sent to everyone in the ring****
It looks like no one else is signing up, so I am closing the ring.
I only have one rule for participants in this bookring - before sending the book to the next person, I would like each reader to somehow mark the book with a sticker, stamp, anything from their home country or state. I think it would be fun to keep a record of where the book has been in the book itself. Call me corny, but I think it may be cool to show my son when he grows up. Otherwise, the rules are the norm - try to read the book in about a month, if you can't, let me know. PM the next participant when you are almost finished so you can send the book when you are done. And all that jazz.
Here is the list in order. If something happens and you need to be moved down the list, let me know and I will see what I can do.
Nifler27- Japan
deepdowne- Saudi Arabia
samulli- Germany
abrokenstarr- UK
raeliz64- UK
darkpunkangel- Canada
littlemoonbeam- NY
GreenMethods- NY
bartonz - WA
back to buocl- OH
I am trying to follow everyone's shipping preferences, so sorry if anyone was bumped down the list. It looks like the book will be taking a nice circle around the globe.
Thanks to everyone participating! If you have any questions, send me a PM.

I tried. I really did.
But it's no use, I just can't finish this book. This time I made it to page 150 approximately, before I gave up for good.
I understand that this book is one of the so-called "classics", which should have warned me, because I seem to have an aversion against this category of books. I thought I might have more luck with this, but it just didn't hold my interest. I kept putting it aside and found myself having to force me to pick it up again just to try and get it over with. But then it hit me that I have about 60 TBR books in my bookshelf - books I am actually looking forward to read, so I decided to stop wasting my time with this one.
I am sure it is my fault that I couldn't see the point this book is trying to make. The main character is a disgusting, pathetic creep who abuses a child and listening to his smug account of his relationship with that child and her poor mother was not exactly a pleasure. Was that what Nabokov was trying to show? That pedophiles are detestable sick persons? Well, duh. That's not exactly a revolutionary thought, I don't need to read a whole book to know that.
Anyway, thanks buocl, for giving me a chance to find out once and for all that this is not a book for me. At least that's cleared up now. ;o)
I have already PMed abrokenstarr. As soon as I get an address the book will move on. Happy New Year to all of you!

Just as an update - I'm starting to read this now.
I read this fairly quickly - despite the disturbing subject matter of Humbert Humbert, who marries a woman because he is interested in her ten year old daughter. His relationship with Dolores is interesting. I struggle to come up for the right words to explain the book, not least because of the subject matter.
Anyway, it's a classic, and I've read it. I really struggled with the last section of the book, but I guess that is designed to show state of mind or something.
Having trouble getting hold of Raeliz's address. No response to two pms.

I had problems getting hold of darkpunkangel's address, but the book is now on it's way.
The book is safe and sound with me. I started reading it already and its interesting so far.
I don't understand how this can be a classic, it was ok, poorly written and a horrible creep of a character.
I'm going to PM the next person and send it off as soon as I get it.

It's here and wll shortly be winging its way home.
Lolita finally made it home! I am happy to see the book, but I a little sad that no one marked the book at all. Oh well, I am still glad to have a completed bookring. Thanks all!
After keeping this book for a long time I've decided it's time to release it. I hope someone will enjoy this book.
