* #1 in the Pepper Martin Mystery series*
9/06 Rec'd via Paperback Swap trade.
This was a Book Relay Swap reveal that caught my eye (I didn't end up with the book).
A light, entertaining paranormal mystery. The ghost of a mob boss appears to Pepper Martin, a cemetary tour guide. And he wants Pepper to hunt down his killers ;-)
Much as I am enjoying lots of paranormal reads these days, it was refreshing to read this book with a ghost and no vampires.
I'll definitely be on the lookout for the second book in this series in Spring 2007!

Thanks for granting a wishlist wish, ladiibbug! The book has arrived. I'll dig into it and then let it continue on its journey. Thanks again!
Paperback, 325 pages
From the back cover:
SHE SEES DEAD PEOPLE
Beautiful, smart, and chic, Pepper Martin never had to work a day in her life—until her surgeon daddy was convicted of fraud, her wealthy fiancé took a powder, and the family fortune ran bone dry. Suddenly desperate, the inexperienced ex-rich girl was forced to take the only job she could get: as a tour guide in a cemetery. But a grave situation took a turn for the worse when a head-on collision with a headstone left her with an unwatned ability to communicate with the disgruntled deceased...and now Pepper has a whacked Mafia don demanding that she hunt down his killers—and threatening to haunt her until she does.

...and I should add that I LOVE the Halloween decorations on your envelope. Too cute!
This was a cute little mystery and ended up being a perfect way to spend this Sunday afternoon (lazy, curled up on the couch!). Pepper is a rather engaging character, although I have to admit that I got a bit tired of the bionic boobs routine after a while. Gus was great as the ghost. I'd definitely be interested in checking out the next in the series.
I'll make this one available again. Happy journey little book!

Arrived last night, wehee! But, alas, I am still in the middle of my current bookring. But it's getting pretty interesting, so I should be done soon...
Cute book. I wasn't too impressed at first, but it grew on me. Quite refreshing not to have a gun-wielding, sword-carrying heroine. No vampires or werewolves, just your nice neigbourhood ghost. Well, as whacked Mafia dons go, Gus is a nice guy. I have to start watching the Sopranos! By the time we reached the end and Pepper had figured out, who offed Gus and why, I was ready for more. Book number 2 went straight onto my wishlist.

Well I read this today (spent a nice afternoon in bed) and really enjoyed it! It was fun and kept me hooked until the end. I liked the style of writing and loved the whole 'she sees dead people' angle and it was freshing to have a ghost story for a change.
I will be on the lookout for the next part...will go and have a look now to see when it comes out.
Will pass this on to Rianonne on Tuesday.
Thanks again everyone!

A cute, entertaining paranormal mystery. It was refreshing to read this book with a ghost and no vampires around. I liked the writing style and Pepper Martin - so I'm definitely looking forward to a sequel :)
'Don of the Dead" arrived in the mail today, I will start reading it as soon as possible.
Don of the dead was a very nice book, and I really enjoyed Pepper's rather unwilling detective work to solve Gus' murder. I am going to put the sequel on my wishlist, because I'm dying to find out what will happen with Pepper next, and also, of course, if she will end up with Dan (who acted more and more mysterious during this book).
edit: I mailed this book to Joasik last weekend, so she should get it within a couple of days.

Got it and put on my list of bookrings to read. :) Thanks for the nice card attached to it! :)
I wasn't that impressed by it, I must say. It's a nice read but I didn't get involved in the story as I usually do.

I very much liked this book and it left me wanting much more. Pepper's two guys are both intriguing and will, hopefully, show up in her next adventures.
I have tish2002's address so this book should be on it's way sometime this week.
Thank you again for introducing me to this series.

I think this could have used a little more romance to spice it up, but it was really good. I'm looking forward to reading the next one. I'm mailing this on to

Found this waiting for me after a too short vacation. This is at the top of my bookring pile and I should be able to get to it in a few days. This is a new author for me and I look forward to getting to know her style.
A good light read. It reminded me very much of the US TV series "Ghost Whisper", except Pepper is a little dizzier. Being of Italian heritage I really enjoyed the Italian words and references slipping in every once in a while. One real weak spot was the character of Dan and him coming to the rescue like he did really didn’t fit. All in all a good read and I would read the next in the series.
Catsalive has asked to be skipped, so this will be going off to BellaMack in the next few days.

I put this into the post today and it is on it's way to Australia.
Received today, many thanks. I will offer it to other Aussie bookcrossers in the Aussie VBB when I have read it.
I couldn't really get into this one, probably because I had too much going on around me so I am offering it up to VBB for someone else to enjoy
