Ugh! I couldn't get past page 13. I found the writing style VERY hard to follow. It jumped from 3rd person to 1st person, and back again several times. And that was only ONE of the reasons I found it hard to follow. It was also quite choppy. Beyond that I have much trouble with the idea of "Housewifery as drudgery" I believe that while housework, and raising children isn't always exciting - or even easy, it should be done with a joyful heart to bless your home and family. SO - this contented "Homemaker" (For I make a "home" here, I'm not wedded to a house), will pass this book on for the Animal Release Challenge of 2006. Maybe someone else will like it better than I did.

From the back of the book: "Norma Jean Harris is a normal suburban housewife with three lovely children, a lovely home, a loving husband. But then something happens to Norma Jean. Abandoning the shopping centers, the car pools, the family outings of sunny California, she begins a rollicking journey backward - not to the nostalgic past of memory, but to the erernal glories of ancient Egypt. And while others regard her fascination with the gods, goddesses, and rituals of ancient times to be a bit bizarre, Norma Jean knows it's the perfect solution - a wild, fantastic chance to create a life that is purely her own."
